The William Agency, Jul 2018 - FEB 2021

The William Agency is a content marketing agency specialising in brand storytelling and copywriting services. I supported the agency with social media management for both TWA and some of its larger client projects.

Mairi has been a consistent and supportive social media manager, both for The William Agency and some of our clients. She is confident to get on with the job and, most importantly, I trust her to do so in a professional and high-quality fashion. This trust is vital when placing sensitive client projects in the hands of a freelancer, but I have no concerns doing so with Mairi. I would not hesitate to recommend her for similar services.

Sustainable Fashion Scotland, February 2020 - Current

Alongside being a Founding Member of Sustainable Fashion Scotland (SFS) I am the Marketing and Communications Director. I lead the planning, development and implementation of our marketing communication activities. This includes the SFS biweekly newsletter which has a high average open rate of 45%, and our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram; here we share informative highly saved content and curate stories of collaboration and innovation to build community engagement.

We are concentrating on building a connected and engaged place-based audience who we can work with to co-create our strategy, providing them with valuable, purposeful and actionable content rather than focusing purely on growth and numbers.

ALICAS, July 2018 - January 2019

Social startup ALICAS gifts bespoke clothing parcels to women in clothing crisis and survivors of domestic abuse using surplus retail stock which otherwise would be sent to landfill.

As Digital Marketing Manager, I developed the company’s social media and website. My main duties included the scheduling of content for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, ensuring key messages were promoted and brand guidelines were accurately conveyed through relevant images and keywords. I worked closely with ALICAS' PR team to decide on key messages for social media leading up to the #TAGSTO10K launch. The startup received great PR coverage (e.g. BBC and STV) as a result of the launch.

Ryan James Studio, Sep 2018 - Feb 2019

Ryan James Studio is a Glasgow-based lifestyle and menswear store with clothing, grooming & accessory brands from the UK and Europe. I supported the brand with social media management to increase brand awareness, exposure and website traffic through social media channels.

I recently worked with Mairi on a six month social media project for Ryan James Studio and would highly recommend working with her. Mairi's communication was clear and consistent throughout, from the planning stages to implementation of our social media content. Mairi was also very flexible and easy to work with, regarding sometimes last minute changes to our messaging. Look forward to working together again on future projects!

The Herald, January 2018 - APRil 2018

For my undergraduate degree in Fashion Management, I completed a 12 week placement as Fashion Editorial Intern at the Herald & Times Group in Glasgow. My main project was to oversee the launch and growth of the Instagram account for the fashion department (@theheraldfashion), resulting in growth of 0 to 800 followers in 9 weeks.

The aim for this project was to raise awareness of the fashion editorials and online articles produced by The Herald to a digital audience. This involved reviewing up to 18 years of archival editorial images created by the team and implementing a social media strategy to reach a relevant audience for maximum user engagement.

Other activities included article writing for heraldscotland.com and The Herald Magazine, liaising with PR contacts, attending press events and assisting on shoot days. A highlight was one of my online articles being in the top ten most read over the weekend following its publication, whilst another on the history of tartan was selected for a cover line in the printed magazine.
